Air Fryer Sweet Potato Chickpea Cakes

  • Vortex Air Fryer


  • 2 small - medium sweet potato 1 cup mashed
  • 1 tin Chickpeas 240g drained
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cumin
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup Coriander leaves
  • 4 tbsp Chickpea Flour
  • 2 tsp Olive Oil
  • 2-3 tbsp Nutritional Yeast


  • In a mixing bowl, add sweet potato, onion, garlic, coriander leaves, spices, nutritional yeast and chickpea flour. Mix well to combine.
  • Once combined, place in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  • Scoop the mixture and gently shape to form a patty, then brush with oil.
  • Select Air Fry and program to 205°C for 15 minutes. Touch Start.
  • When the display indicates Add Food, place the patties in the Air Fryer, 1 cm apart.
  • Flip them when prompted.
  • When the program has finished, transfer to a plate and serve with a dipping sauce.
